North of 7 Honoured with Gold Medal at Canadian Whisky Awards 2022
We're delighted to announce that our 6-year-old Traditional whisky has won a Gold Medal at the Canadian Whisky Awards 2022.
This prestigious honour follows our recognition at the 2020 Canadian Whisky Awards as Artisanal Distillery of the Year.

We chose to enter Traditional in the best whisky category based on its unique and compelling taste profile. After a barrel sampling last fall, we opted to transfer straight to bottle at barrel strength so as not to diminish its essence.
As the name suggests, Traditional has historical roots. It's made from a traditional bourbon-style mash bill with a high rye content, then aged in American white oak barrels.
We toast the barrels for 18 minutes—the longest of any of our whiskies—to impart added smoothness. Then, we char them extra light to obtain the subtle flavours produced by the caramelization without harming the flavour chemicals produced by the toast.

Now in it’s 11th year, the Canadian Whisky Awards recognize the best Canadian whiskies.
To qualify, the whisky must be distilled and matured in Canada. An independent panel of whisky experts selects the winners after tasting each whisky blind.
Operated on a not-for-profit basis, the Canadian Whisky Awards are fully independent of the Canadian whisky industry.
